Avast Anti-Virus

One of the most common questions i get asked is "What is the best Anti-Virus?" Well today i am going to let you in on my secret.

Avast has been my go-to program for the last 5 years. it does an outstanding job removing troublesome viruses and stopping them before they even install. Back when i worked for a local retailer i had a problem performing virus removal on PC's due to the fact that the company made the customer purchase Anti-Virus from the retailer. Unfortunately the software sold at this retailer was what i deem crap.. heck ill come out and say it. we sold Norton and McAfee. i began to search in my spare time for a free alternative that efficiently removed viruses that did not cost much or anything at all. I was working with a nasty computer one day and was researching a fix for the virus when a forum suggested avast. i installed it on the computer and it did more than remove the virus. IT FOUND OTHERS THAT OUR SOFTWARE DIDNT!! I removed the Norton software from the computer and left avast and also noticed a huge speed increase in the performance of the computer.

It turns out that Norton and McAfee slow down the computer by trying to control what is happening in the background. everything that you do is checked and scanned by the program. this in turn slows down your computers overall performance. After removing both of these programs from multiple computers and installing Avast i found their computers to all perform a lot faster.

Now for a little about Avast and it's operation. Avast Home Edition is FREE only if you agree to use it for personal use only. They do require you to register. Now i know everyone hates giving companies their info but in the 5 years of use from this product the ONLY emails i have received from this company are a reminder that it is expiring soon and i need to re register.. FOR FREE!

Another little feature i love is that if i am downloading a file and it detects a virus or malware, it immediately brings up an alert and terminates the connection! this has saved my computer countless times and i feel it is something everybody else lacks.
